Tarryl Clark Releases First Radio Ad of CampaignClark is first candidate in MN-8 up with voter outreach program Today, Tarryl Clark’s congressional campaign released its first advertisement of the 2012 election. The radio ad, titled “Fight,” features Tarryl Clark and retired Steelworker Rich Sterling, a mineworker at United Taconite in Eveleth from 1974 to 2006. Listen to the ad here: The ad centers on the need to change Washington and place Minnesota’s middle class families first, highlighting a stark contrast with current Congressman Chip Cravaack’s efforts to end Medicare as we know it and support tax breaks for companies that have shipped Minnesota jobs overseas. “People here in northeast and central Minnesota deserve representation that places the needs of middle class families ahead of the Washington special interests and wealthiest few,” said Clark. “This campaign is about who we should prioritize in Washington and who is going to stand up for our middle class.” Steelworker Rich Sterling said, “We need Tarryl in Washington. She’s got a track record of getting things done for us. She’ll stand up to the big companies that are taking our jobs out of Minnesota and will instead help small businesses right here at home.” “Fight” is running for two weeks throughout Minnesota’s Iron Range. The daughter of a Navy family, Clark learned to serve her community at a young age. She has been an active public servant throughout northeast and central Minnesota for the last 24 years, including working for the Girls Scouts, helping found Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity, representing seniors through the Senior Citizen’s Law Project, advocating for children and families as Policy Director for the Minnesota Children’s Defense Fund, and working to strengthen families and communities leading the Minnesota Community Action Partnership. Clark also served as the Assistant Majority Leader in the State Senate, where she was credited with building broad bi-partisan coalitions to protect seniors, protect Minnesota jobs from outsourcing, and help veterans transition from combat duty to civilian life. Tarryl Clark and her husband Doug raised their two sons – Colin and Nathan – in central Minnesota. Tarryl’s current work with the BlueGreen Alliance brought them to Duluth. They both have long volunteered, whether in their sons’ schools, with community groups or at church including long time service as high school youth ministers throughout the region. |
