Clark Campaign Calls on Cravaack to denounce Michele Bachmann’s divisive Rhetoric
Congressman Cravaack continues to stand by Representative Bachmann’s baseless accusations and hateful rhetoric, including some aimed at a member of their own delegation. This may serve to help his fundraising, but it is at the expense of the open, constructive dialog Minnesotans have repeatedly said they hope for from their elected representatives

(Duluth, MN) – Days after Michele Bachmann’s latest tirade, this time falsely accusing Rep. Keith Ellison of associating with the Muslim Brotherhood, Tarryl Clark’s campaign for Congress called on Congressman Chip Cravaack to denounce Michele Bachmann and donate to charity all contributions received from her campaign and political action committee.
As many Republican leaders in Washington, including Senator John McCain and House Speaker John Boehner, have condemned Rep. Bachmann’s overheated statements in recent days, her fellow Minnesotan Congressman Cravaack has been completely silent. “Our representatives in Washington should be working together to solve our problems, not inventing new ways to divide us,” said Clark campaign manager Joe Fox.
“Congressman Cravaack continues to stand by Representative Bachmann’s baseless accusations and hateful rhetoric, including some aimed at a member of their own delegation. This may serve to help his fundraising, but it is at the expense of the open, constructive dialog Minnesotans have repeatedly said they hope for from their elected representatives.”
Congressman Cravaack’s reelection campaign has benefited from thousands of dollars from Bachmann, including PAC contributions and a donated mailing list.
“Our campaign is calling on the campaign of Congressman Chip Cravaack to publicly denounce Rep. Bachmann’s false accusations and dangerous rhetoric and cut ties with her by immediately donating all funds received from her and her PAC to charity,” continued Fox.
“In the state senate, Tarryl Clark worked across the aisle to find common sense solutions for Minnesota families and communities.” Fox concluded, “By staying silent, Congressman Cravaack continues to align himself with Rep. Bachmann extremist actions, even while his own leadership condemns them. He is sending a disheartening message to Minnesotans that partisanship comes first for him and getting results for the families and communities he represents is a distant second.”
