Defending Minnesota’s Outdoor TraditionsMinnesota is known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes (although most of us know there are more than 14,500 of them!), and we have an incredible outdoor heritage in our state. From camping and fishing to hunting and hiking, to biking and skiing and snowmobiling, we love to be outdoors. We all want to protect our lakes, land, and air for our kids and grandkids – and so that we can eat the fish we catch and the game we hunt. Yet Congressman Cravaack has voted against cleaning up our water, against holding major source polluters accountable, and against cleaner forms of energy. Like many Minnesota families, outdoor traditions are important to our family and ones we want to pass on to our grandchildren when they come along. I want all Minnesotans, our children, and grandchildren to have the same opportunities that we do. In the Minnesota Senate, I was a member of the Sportsmen’s Caucus and worked to promote conservation and habitat. Because of the importance of our land and water to our way of life, I – and a broad coalition of hunters, anglers, conservationists and outdoors enthusiasts – supported the Legacy Amendment. And it’s why I continue to support efforts to conserve land, promote sustainable practices and keep our air and water clean. Protecting the outdoors for future generations isn’t a Democratic or Republican issue – it’s common sense. In Congress, I will continue to work across the aisle to defend our natural resources, make sure that common sense regulations are enforced, and make polluters pay to clean up their messes – not taxpayers. And I will continue to support Minnesota’s outdoor traditions, including hunting and fishing, through supporting 2nd Amendment rights and working to preserve land and water for future generations. |
