Why I’m RunningGrowing up in a military family, service to your country becomes a way of life and shapes one’s values. That same sense of service and selflessness is part of the fabric of communities across Minnesota – the very reason my husband Doug and I made it our home so many years ago. Even in the hardest of times, Minnesotans pull together to get each other through – neighbors reaching out to neighbors; churches, schools, charitable organizations, businesses, all lending a hand to those in need. Unfortunately, that sense of shared responsibility seems to be lacking in our nation’s leadership. Today, Minnesotans are facing record unemployment; high foreclosure rates and rising costs everywhere from the gas pump to the grocery store to the doctor’s office. And finding solutions to these problems doesn’t seem to be the priority in Washington. Working families don’t seem to be the priority. It’s time for a change. It’s time Washington stopped working for the big, wealthy, corporate interests and started working for us—everyday, regular Minnesotans, and that’s why I am running for Congress. I will take the values that I learned as a young girl in a military family, as a wife and a mother and as a former legislator and combine them with common sense solutions to make Washington begin to work for working Minnesota families. Because as you and I know, we’re all in this together. Let’s get to work. Tarryl Posted on December 19, 2011.
