Fighting Back in 2012!

2011 has been a busy year for the Tea Party. After taking control of Congress and statehouses across our country, they began an extreme ideological assault on women, our families and our communities.

In just twelve months, they have attacked: Medicare, Social Security, worker’s rights and women’s reproductive freedoms. They tried to raise taxes on all of us and cut taxes for their Billionaire backers; they cast doubt on the full faith and credit of the United States, and held the economy hostage in an effort to pass their extreme partisan agenda.

Now more than ever we cannot be disheartened. We must stand up and fight back against the Tea Party assault on all of these things we care about. And when we stand together, we will win. The Tea Party went to Congress to create jobs, but from their list accomplishments above it is clear this was never their priority.

Thankfully, we elect a new Congress next year, and there is a lot to be hopeful about. As I meet people each day across the 8th district, I hear time and again, that this is not what they voted for and that they are ready for real leadership.

And thanks to all of you my campaign to bring that leadership back is off to a great start. We have received many endorsements, connected with thousands of voters and have a great start raising the money it will take to unseat this incumbent – last quarter I even outraised my Tea Party opponent, despite friends like Exxon and Michele Bachmann helping him out.
